Flooding affected several areas of Cumbria in May

Residents are being asked to help shape flood prevention plans after severe weather battered their area in May.

Cumberland Council and the Environment Agency are asking those affected in the north of Cumbria to attend specific events and put forward proposals.

Attendees will also be given information on how to sign up for flood warnings and on how to protect their homes in future.

A council spokesman said the events were "crucial" to ensure final reports "accurately reflect the impact of the flooding".

Those affected by flooding in Stockdalewath, Bridge End and Gaitsgill, near Dalston, can attend a drop-in at Raughton Head Primary School on 25 September, from 14:30 BST to 18:30.

On 2 October an event is due to be held between 14:00 and 19:00 at Wetheral Village Community Hall for those affected by flooding in Scotby, Cumwhinton and Great Corby.
