An advert has been released to find the next chief executive of Dorset Council.

The authority is offering a salary of up to £200,000 a year for the role, with a number of extra incentives also advertised.

The position is to replace existing post-holder, Matt Prosser, who is moving to New Zealand later in the year to take up the chief officer post at Wellington City Council.

The advert, posted in the Municipal Journal, says the chief executive is the "driving force behind Dorset Council's strategic vision and delivery".

Extra perks to the role include financial help of up to £8,000 tax free for moving costs and an initial advance of £2,500, as well as an option to receive help towards rent or a mortgage in the first two years.

Mr Prosser worked in Dorset ahead of the April 2019 reorganisation, overseeing the shadow unitary authority and creation of Dorset Council.

The job advert to fill his position says Dorset is "a county like no other, a place of stunning natural beauty, thriving communities and opportunity".

It says the role will require a "dynamic approach to leadership, drive innovation and ensure Dorset Council remains a leader in modern public service excellence".

To go with the advert, leader of the council Nick Ireland released a video explaining the basis of the council plan.

He says the new chief executive should be "personable and open" to "rally the troops and provide leadership to give the best for residents".
