Man in court accused of attempted murder in garden

A man has appeared in court accused of trying to kill another man in his back garden in Huddersfield.
Sarmad Khawaja, 41, has been charged with the attempted murder of Zeeshan Kiani on Alder Street, Fartown on Thursday.
Mr Kiani, 33, suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed and continues to recover in hospital, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said.
After a brief hearing at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Saturday, Mr Khawaja, of Alder Street, was remanded in custody ahead of a pre-trial and preparation hearing at the city's crown court on 5 September.
