A man has been arrested after a cyclist suffered serious and life-threatening injuries after being hit by a van.

A 71-year-old man remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital after the incident near Halifax Road in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, on Monday at about 06:00 BST.

A 30-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on Friday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle dangerously.

Thames Valley Police said he remains in custody and asked for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch on 101.
