A man has been charged with drink driving after a crash left a West Sussex bridge badly damaged.
Police said a Ford Transit van hit North Mill Bridge in North Street, Midhurst just after 22:30 GMT on Saturday, leading to several road closures which continued into Monday.
The 44-year-old man, who is from Midhurst, is due to appear before magistrates in Worthing on 18 February.
West Sussex County Council said it aimed to have the road partially reopened on Monday , with concrete barriers and temporary traffic lights put in place.
Arundel and South Downs MP Andrew Griffith visited the site and described it as having been left in "a real mess".
A West Sussex County Council spokesperson said: "Our structural engineer has inspected the bridge to assess the damage and has confirmed it is safe to partially re-open it.
"Four-way traffic lights will be set up to manage traffic flow at the mini roundabout and across the bridge.
"Temporary concrete barriers will be placed in front of the damaged part of the parapet and will remain in place until the wall can be repaired."
