A barber who raped a teenage boy and sexually assaulted a young girl has been jailed.

Mohammed Naveed, 42, attacked the boy after locking him in a room at the back of his premises.

He was also found guilty of sexual assault after he took the girl into the same room and told her to take her clothes off, before trying to rip them off himself.

Naveed of West Park House, Dewsbury, was jailed for nine years after being found guilty of rape, engaging in sexual communication with a child, paying for sexual services, sexual assault on a female and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

The court heard the young boy had previously been given free cannabis by Naveed but on this occasion the defendant told the teenager he would "have to work for it".

When the boy refused to co-operate with Naveed, he pinned him down on a sofa and raped him.

The court heard the boy was also sexually abused by 43-year-old Mohammed Afsan, who was also jailed.

In a victim impact statement read by prosecutor Louise Reevell, the boy described how he suffered sleepless nights and nightmares.

Afsan, of Lynfield Drive, Bradford, was jailed for eight years after being convicted of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and breaching a sexual risk order.

Speaking after sentencing, PC Morgan Hirst of Bradford Districts Child Safeguarding Unit, said: "We welcome the sentence handed down for these abhorrent crimes.

"These two men abused and groomed their victims by giving them rewards through cash, drugs and vapes."
