Pro-Palestinian protesters have disrupted a speech by BBC director general Tim Davie to staff in Glasgow.

About 30 demonstrators waving Palestinian flags hammered on the windows of the BBC Scotland headquarters at Pacific Quay and chanted "shame on the BBC" as Mr Davie gave a speech in the foyer.

Protesters made their way through the front door of the building but did not get into the main reception.

The internally-streamed event, attended by dozens of BBC staff, was moved to a different part of the building.

Five Police Scotland officers were sent to the building.

Campaign group Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee posted a video of the demonstration, which it said had been organised to protest about the BBC's coverage of the conflict in Gaza.

Mr Davie and BBC Scotland director Hayley Valentine had been speaking to staff about strategy, performance and work to improve the organisation's culture.

The BBC has been asked to comment.
