A woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after a man was found lying in a road in Nottingham with serious injuries.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to Mapperley Road at about 04:00 BST on Friday after members of the public raised concerns for the man's safety.

The man, in his 20s, was found to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, the force added.

Officers have arrested a 48-year-old woman on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

The force said the arrest was an "important step" in its investigation and asked anyone with dashcam footage or information to get in touch.
