Part of a major road in Bradford has been closed after a man seriously injured in an assault.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to Haworth Road at 01:18 BST.

By the time they arrived the injured man had left the scene, but the force said the 28-year-old later attended hospital with serious injuries to his hand.

The force said a cordon had been put in place on the road to allow investigation work.

A force spokesperson said the cordon runs between Haworth Road's junctions with Thorn Lane and Thorn Drive.

They also appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact the force.
