A crane helped lift the 92nd, highest and final piece of track into place on Wednesday before the attraction opens to the public later in the spring.

Neil Poulter, Thorpe Park's divisional director, told BBC Radio Surrey that the rollercoaster offers a "weightlessness feel" and you get "the feeling like you're slightly coming out of your seat".

On the ride visitors will be turned upside down three times, including a dive loop, and the attraction includes a splashdown element over a lake.

The theme park said the "state-of-the-art rollercoaster promises to deliver an adrenaline-pumping experience like never before".

Mr Poulter added: "We are excited for thrill-seekers to be able to experience Hyperia which will be an amazing addition to our other record-breaking rides."
