North East Lincolnshire Council is holding a series of drop-in sessions on regeneration plans for Cleethorpes

Drop-in sessions for people to comment on two major regeneration projects in Cleethorpes will continue this week.

North East Lincolnshire Council is considering making improvements to Pier Gardens and the Market Place after it was awarded £18.4m levelling up funding last year.

The proposals follow the 2022 Cleethorpes Masterplan which was developed by designer Wayne Hemingway.

Officials at the authority hope construction work in Pier Gardens could start next year but no firm time frame has been set out.

The drop-ins will be held on:

  • Monday 20 May: 12:00 to 16:00 BST at Cleethorpes Library

  • Tuesday 21 May: 14:00 to 19:00 at Cleethorpes Leisure Centre

  • Wednesday 22 May: 12:00 to 16:00 at Grimsby Library

  • Thursday 23 May: 12:00 to 15:00 at Immingham Library

  • Thursday 23 May: 16:00 to 19:00 at Grimsby Leisure Centre

  • Friday 24 May: 12:00 to 15:00 at Freeman Street Market

Council leader Philip Jackson said the consultation marked a "new era" for North East Lincolnshire.

He added: "We want the residents of the borough to have their say on the designs as they will be using the spaces in future years. This is a great time for North East Lincolnshire."

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the next stage of the project will include having the designs finalised and signed off by the council's cabinet, with contracts for the work put out to tender in the coming months.
