JCB and LIV Golf announce multi-year partnership

The LIV Golf tour will be heading to construction firm JCB’s course as part of a multi-year partnership.

The event, LIV Golf’s third visit to the UK, will take place at the JCB Golf and Country Club in Rocester, Staffordshire, from 26 to 28 July.

JCB’s CEO Graeme McDonald said it promised to be a “spectacular event” and that he was delighted to be collaborating with the tour.

Monica Fee, senior vice president of Liv Golf, said the partnership would help to continue the tour’s global impact.

Backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, LIV Golf was founded in 2021 as a rival to the PGA Tour.

It has recently caused controversy after several high profile golfers left the PGA Tour to join the new series.

This included defending Masters champion Jon Rahm, who was banned from PGA Tour events after he defected in December.

Talks between the PGA and PIF have been held in an attempt to agree a potential merger.

Rahm recently said he hoped the rival tours would be able to coexist in the future.

"If there is some type of peace achieved, I think it can actually push the game forward,” he said.

The JCB Golf and Country Club was officially opened in 2019 on a 240-acre site adjacent to the firm’s world headquarters.
