A man who stabbed two people, including an off-duty police officer, in separate knife attacks has been jailed.

Marshall Robinson was armed with a weapon when he approached the officer in Digbeth, Birmingham, in April 2022, West Midlands Police said.

After talking with the man and his friends, for an unknown reason Robinson stabbed him in the chest, they added.

Then in October 2022, Robinson stabbed a former business colleague in the neck after visiting him at his home in Tipton, causing nerve damage.

The off-duty officer was taken to hospital and his injuries were not life-threatening, the force said.

Robinson, of Anderton Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding and possession of cannabis.

The 45-year-old was jailed for seven and a half years - with a further three years on extended licence - at Birmingham Crown Court on 31 January.

Det Insp Matt Underwood said it was fortunate neither of the men were more seriously injured.

"It appears the attack in Digbeth was random, not targeted, and without any justification," he added.
