Part of a major road has been closed after a three-vehicle crash.

National Highways said the A303 was closed eastbound between the A371 at Wincanton and the B3081 near Bourton. It advised drivers to avoid the area.

It added that Avon and Somerset Police was at the scene and contractors were on their way to "assist with the recovery and clean-up operation".

Traffic monitoring service Inrix said traffic was building in the area.

Ambulance crews are currently at the scene and a diversion, marked by a solid diamond symbol, is in place.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said the force was called at about 12:00 GMT and no-one was believed to have been seriously injured.
