A rugby club has been handed £17,500 by a council to help with costs to resurface its pitch.
Barrow Island ARLFC needs £150,000 for the work at its Rating Lane Playing Fields in Barrow, Cumbria.
Members of Furness Locality Board for Westmorland and Furness Council agreed to contribute the sum at a meeting this week.
Club Secretary John Jefferson previously said there had been "a lot of problems" with the pitch.
The club runs several rugby teams and the pitches are used by Cumbria Masters Rugby League, Barrow Ladies Rugby League and a local school, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The club has raised £20,000 through fundraising events and Sport England is giving a grant to meet the total needed.
