'My son could have died in slashing attack'

A mother says her 13-year-old son could easily have died after he was attacked by a stranger.
The boy suffered serious injuries to his face and neck in the attack, which happened in an alley close to Gino’s takeaway in Anlaby, at around 20:30 GMT on Sunday.
Natalie, 38, said doctors told her that a slash to her son's neck missed his jugular artery by 0.4in (1cm), and if it had been cut he "would have died instantly".
Det Insp Andy Crawforth confirmed officers were investigating the incident, adding: “This is an awful set of circumstances that have left a young boy with serious injuries."

Describing the incident, Natalie said someone shouted at her son as he walked with friends after visiting a takeaway.
He was then hit over the head, causing him to drop his food, she said.
Her son ran to his friend's house "with blood pouring everywhere”.
Natalie received a call from the friend’s mother explaining what had happened.
Broken glass was stuck in his neck, Natalie said.
“He was in massive shock.
"He is in a lot of pain, keeps having flashbacks and doesn’t want to go out of the house."
In a statement, Humberside Police said: "Inquiries are ongoing after officers were called to reports of a boy being assaulted after leaving a takeaway on Hull Road, in Anlaby, at around 20:40 GMT on Sunday 27 October.
"It is reported that a 13-year-old boy was walking with a friend and was approached by two teenage boys and two teenage girls who are not known to them.
"After attempting to engage with the 13-year-old boy and his friend, the boy was struck with a glass bong and sustained wounds to his face and neck."
Det Insp Crawforth asked anyone with information about the attack to contact police.
