A new project is set to launch in Birmingham to transform a neighbourhood with blossom trees and encourage people to learn more about nature.

Blossoming Balsall Heath sees 300 trees being planted in the area by schools, community groups and residents during the winter.

It is part of the National Trust's countrywide campaign which started in 2021.

Next month a new space, named the Blossom Branch, is due to be opened on Ladypool Road as a hub.

The hub has been designed for residents to learn about the project and take part in a range of nature-themed activities.

Last year, hundreds of trees were planted along Birmingham's circular Number 11 bus route to pay homage to a time when it was referred to as a ‘town ringed by blossom’ in the mid-18th Century.
