Community groups and artists are being invited to help develop a virtual reality (VR) museum.

Users of the "Infinite Museum" will wear a VR headset to move through virtual displays of the history of south Lincolnshire.

Six artists will get a £1,000 grant to develop their skills in immersive technology.

There will also be sessions for young people to get involved.

Visitors will don a headset and take a virtual lift to different floors in the museum where local heritage sites such as as Ayscoughfee Hall and Boston Guildhall can be visited.

The project is being supported by the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership and MBD, an organisation specialising in creative digital storytelling.

The four-day artist sessions take place in November and people can apply via the MBD website, external.

As well as the artist residency, there will be a number of community workshops with six to 10 local young people, who will help produce the youth-led floor of the virtual experience.

Ellie Brooks from MBD said the organisation was "thrilled to be collaborating on this exciting project, using cutting-edge virtual reality technology to bring local history to life.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage audiences and celebrate our local heritage in a truly immersive and innovative way.”
