A real ale and cider festival will return to Hull after a six-year hiatus.

The three-day event has been resurrected to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hull and East Yorkshire Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).

It will be held at the 300-year-old Minerva Masonic Hall, in the Old Town, from 30 October until 1 November.

John Rushforth, 75, the branch's social secretary, said the event – Camra's 42nd in the city – would allow festival-goers to "meet new people" and "experience some beers that they've probably never thought of trying before".

Volunteers are due to serve about 30 real ales, as well as five real ciders and perries, with some brewed locally. There will also be food from a local caterer.

The event was last held at Hull Minster in 2019

The Camra festival was previously staged at Hull Minster, but the church has held an alternative event for the past five years.

Mr Rushforth said the masonic hall, a Grade II listed building, provided a perfect setting and would also "encourage people" to support Old Town pubs.

There will be two sessions each day, one from 12:00 until 17:00 GMT, and the other from 17:30 until 23:00.

Tickets can be bought on the Hull and East Yorkshire CAMRA website, with the event supporting Martin House Children's Hospice and Dove House Hospice.
