Man arrested after woman found dead following flat fire

Detectives have arrested a man after the body of a woman was discovered following a fire in a Dundee flat.

The 37-year-old was found in the city's Byron Street after the alarm was raised at about 07:25.

Police activity throughout the day in nearby Kenmore Gardens and Glenagnes Road - which is more than a mile away from the scene of the fire - was linked to the same investigation.

Officers have now confirmed a 26-year-old suspect is in custody.

Police Scotland said the family of the woman, who has not been named, were being provided with support by specially trained officers.

A force spokesperson added inquiries into the death were ongoing.
