Attempted murder arrests over teenager shot in leg

Six more people have been arrested after a teenager was shot in the leg in what police called a "targeted attack".

The 18-year-old was injured at flats on Scholars Rise in Middlesbrough on Sunday night.

A 27-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, and two men, aged 30 and 34, on suspicion of attempted murder, Cleveland Police said.

Three other men, aged 27, 30 and 33, have also been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, with the 33-year-old also arrested over possession of controlled drugs. It brings the total number of arrests following the attack to 10.

Earlier, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

Three others previously arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, had been released on bail pending further investigation, police said.

The victim remains in hospital and police continue to seek witnesses.
