The long awaited development of another aircraft hangar at Guernsey airport is set to go ahead.

A request for permission to erect temporary site accommodation and facilities, install hard standing and fencing has been submitted to the States.

There would be 12 rooms for accommodation built, alongside a toilet, canteen and office.

An application to build a hangar for large executive private jets next to the airport was initially approved by the Environment Department in 2012.

In the application submitted, Civils, who submitted the application, said the construction of the hangar requires a peak on-site workforce of 25 personnel, comprising a mix of local labourers and 12 off-island skilled specialists who will require accommodation.

The hangar with a taxi-way, apron and car parking will be to the west of existing Guernsey Aero Club hangar.

The portakabin design will feature a metal roof and secure anti-vandal doors and window.

The storage area, accommodation and vehicle access will be to the left of the already approved site for the hangar.
