Five flats were evacuated after police found an unknown chemical

People have returned to their homes after a temporary evacuation.

Five flats were evacuated when an "unknown chemical" was found in a neighbouring home in Sandes Court in Kendal on Friday.

Cumbria Police later said the address had been secured and investigations were ongoing.

Members of the public had been advised to avoid the the area at the time, although a police spokesman said there was no risk.
