Police are investigating a serious collision outside a hospital entrance.

Officers were called to King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, at about 11:40 GMT on Monday.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - which runs the site - said in a social media post a passenger was taken to its emergency department after "an incident involving two vehicles" outside its main entrance.

Police said officers would be at the scene for most of the day while investigations took place.

Det Con Emma Temple called for any witnesses to contact police.

She added: "I'd like to reassure people that services at the hospital are not affected by this incident."

A spokesperson for the NHS trust confirmed services were "running as normal".

They added: "Patients and visitors accessing King's Mill Hospital via its main entrance are advised to allow extra time for their journey, if they are planning to attend an appointment at the hospital."
