Man found stabbed after bank holiday carnival

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was struck over the head and stabbed in the abdomen.
Police were called to reports of an injured man in Chapeltown at 00:52 BST on Tuesday, after thousands of people turned out for the annual Leeds West Indian Carnival in the area.
The 22-year-old was taken to hospital and his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
West Yorkshire Police said it believed the injuries followed an altercation with the occupants of a car at the junction of Francis Court and Francis Street in Chapeltown.
A spokesperson said: “A scene is in place in Francis Street and detectives from Leeds District CID are carrying out inquiries to identify those responsible.”
The carnival was held around Potternewton Park in Chapeltown on Monday.
