A woman has admitted killing a father-of-three through dangerous driving.

Alison Cooper from Badger Brow Road, Loggerheads, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to the offence at Chester Crown Court on Thursday.

She was driving on the A500 in Barthomley, Cheshire, on 16 June 2022 when police said she braked harshly, causing 29-year-old Chris Parsons to take evasive action.

Due to this, his black Renault Clio veered into oncoming traffic and crashed with a blue Seat Ateca travelling in the opposite direction.

The crash happened at about 16:45 BST and Mr Parsons, from Mostyn in north Wales, died at the scene.

In a statement issued at the time, his family said: “He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and loving father to his three amazing children who he will be sorely missed by.

“He was an amazing, kind, caring wonderful person who would go above and beyond for absolutely anyone.”

Det Con Lisa Evans-Hill, from Cheshire Police, said of Cooper’s actions: “This decision to brake caused not only Chris’s family’s lives to change forever that day but Mrs Cooper’s as well.

“I hope it makes people think carefully about their actions behind the wheel."

Cooper will appear at the same court on 8 November for sentencing.
