A 17-year-old boy is in police custody after an alleged bomb hoax led to a school being evacuated.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to St Brendan's Sixth Form College on Broomhill Road in Bristol on Tuesday after receiving a call from a member of staff just after 15:00 GMT.
Firearms officers, a dog unit and specialist search teams were deployed to the school, the force added, where the teenager was arrested.
The force said all students and staff were safely evacuated and that the bomb threat was "not credible".
The police operation, which involved search dogs exploring parts of the school, ended just after 17:30 GMT and nearby Broomhill Road, which was closed earlier to allow emergency service vehicles through, was reopened.
Temporary neighbourhood chief inspector Rich Fear said: "On this occasion, we are pleased to confirm that the threat was not credible and there was never a bomb on college grounds. We can also confirm that no one has sustained any injuries.
"The call from the member of staff reporting the incident was with good intent and the right thing to do, given the information they had received.
"We would like to thank the staff and students for their patience and understanding while we responded to this incident.
"Enquiries are ongoing and we will continue to engage with the college throughout."
