Knife charge after school goes into lockdown
- Published
A man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon after reports of someone carrying a knife on the street put a nearby school into lockdown.
Police officers were called to Holmer Road, in Hereford, at 15:10 GMT on Tuesday although no threats were made to the public, West Mercia Police said.
The 25-year-old, who was also charged with being in possession of a knife in a public place, is due to appear at Hereford Magistrates' Court on 9 April.
Holmer Academy said it lifted its lockdown just after 16:00 GMT the same day.
