Hundreds of displaced Palestinian people began heading back to their homes across Gaza after a long-awaited ceasefire deal took effect between Israel and Hamas.

More than 400,000 people have fled their homes since the start of this year as the Rwanda-backed M23 rebels advance on the provincial capital of Goma, the United Nations says.

Novak Djokovic was booed off court by some Australian Open fans after retiring injured from his semi-final against Alexander Zverev. Djokovic, who was bidding for a record-extending 11th title, quit after losing the first set 7-6 (7-5) in 80 minutes.
