Multiple cannabis grows have been found following a house fire in Leicester city centre.

Officers were called to the fire in Beaconsfield Road, Westcotes by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 02:45 BST on Saturday and found the grows shortly after.

An inspection concluded the blaze was caused by an "accidental electrical overload".

In a social media post, Leicestershire Police said: "Grows put communities at risk in multiple ways, including a high risk of fire which can cause significant damage to neighbouring properties as well."

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing, police added.
