Another part-closure of the Blackwall Tunnel has been announced by Transport for London (TfL).

The southbound route will be closed from 23:00 GMT on Saturday until 05:00 on Monday to allow for work on a new road layout ahead of a new river crossing, TfL says.

A closure between 23:00 Friday and 06:00 Saturday has also been listed, external as a contingency.

The Silvertown Tunnel is due to open in 2025, after which drivers using both tunnels will pay up to £4 at peak times to cross the Thames.

The Blackwall Tunnel - which has already seen a series of weekend closures this year - will remain open northbound.

The Woolwich Ferry, Rotherhithe Tunnel and Tower Bridge are all expected to be busier.

The 108 bus, the only route that operates through the Blackwall Tunnel, will instead run between Lewisham and North Greenwich, and from Canning Town to Stratford.

Passengers who complete their journeys using the Jubilee line will automatically be refunded.
