Residents have been allowed to return home after the discovery of suspicious items prompted an evacuation earlier.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers were carrying out a warrant at a property on Welland Close in St Ives early on Monday morning when they came across the items.

Specialist explosive ordinance disposal officers were deployed, a 100m (328ft) cordon was put in place and a road closed, which has since reopened.

Police said a man arrested in connection with the warrant was in custody and officers would remain at the property while searches continued.
