A man, 57, is being treated in hospital for life-changing injuries sustained in a house fire thought to have been started deliberately.

West Midlands Police was called to Hamstead Road, Birmingham, by emergency services at about 05:30 BST on Saturday.

Officers described the property as a house of multiple occupancy.

Police said forensic teams had examined the scene, and the fire was being treated as arson.

They confirmed no other occupants were injured in the fire.
