A dog has been rescued in Jersey after falling off the side of a cliff path during a walk.

Jersey Fire and Rescue said it was called to help rescue the English Bulldog, known as George Bullfrog, after he fell on to a ledge 15m (49ft) below the cliff top on the north coast at Bouley Bay.

Rescuers used a drone to find the dog's exact location and the crew hiked 1km (0.6 mile) to reach him before climbing down to get him.

Fire and Rescue said the dog was "very friendly and happy to see us" and said since his rescue, George Bullfrog was "absolutely fine after his adventure and is still very energetic".

The service said due to soft ground and steep terrain a rope rescue would have been too "tricky" so the rescuers used "natural anchor points", to safely reach the dog.

It added that the owner "did the right thing" by calling it instead of trying to climb down themselves and asked others to do the same.
