Workshops encourage more into media and theatre

The festival will explore skills that are needed to work in TV, film and theatre

Free workshops are being held in an attempt to get more people working in creative industries.

The programme in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, will reveal processes in theatre, TV and film, like lighting and camera techniques.

It is part of the BBC's Bring The Drama festival that is running for six weeks across the UK and aims to tackle the skills gap in the industry.

Backstage tours in theatres like the Spa Centre and the Loft Theatre will be available to learn about the technical aspects of production.

SAE Creative Media Institute will be running the workshops with TV and film experts.

The programme will explore various production roles, hosted by the co-founder of dance company Motionhouse.

SAE's Richard Peirson said the institute was delighted to have experts share their knowledge with those interested in working in the industry.

"Meeting leading professionals, making connections and expanding their networks are invaluable for those aspiring to forge careers in this sector," he said.

The festival runs alongside a new BBC Two series called Bring the Drama, where untrained actors work on the sets of Britain's most loved TV dramas.
