Further arrest over man's fatal stabbing in park

A further arrest has been made by police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old man in a park.

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing on a footpath in Millers Meadow, known locally as Semilong Park, in Northampton, shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Thomas Boom, who was also known as Tommy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

On Friday, two 21-year-old men from Northampton were arrested in the Birmingham area on suspicion of murder.

All three remain in custody.

A 45-year-old woman from Northampton, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released under investigation.

Police said Mr Boom's family continued to be updated and supported by specialist officers as the investigation progressed.

Officers were in the Semilong area at the weekend and anyone with concerns was encouraged to speak to officers, police added.
