A builder who only started singing during lockdown turned the head of Sir Tom Jones on The Voice UK.
Callum Doignie, 28, from Telford, Shropshire, performed his blind audition in front of The Voice judges after his brother signed him up for the show.
He was nearing the end of his audition when Sir Tom Jones turned around and praised him for a flawless performance.
"I was star-struck," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
He began singing karaoke during the pandemic when one of his brothers built a bar in their back garden.
"I've had some amazing support from friends and family," he said.
After seeing his audition aired on tv with family and friends, he reported celebrating like he'd just "won the world cup".
"I cheered like I'd never seen it before."
The Voice blind auditions are a process where four coaches listen to a contestant's performance whilst facing away from them. They can then turn their chairs to face any performers that impress them.
Mr Doignie described the moments leading up to his success at the audition.
Towards the end of the song "no one had turned" but then he saw the "white lights of the chairs" as Sir Tom Jones turned, inviting Callum to join "Team Tom".
The next stage of the show, referred to as "the callbacks", will see him go head to head with other singers in the hopes of becoming a semi finalist.
When asked about his hopes for the future, he said: "Hopefully I can pack my tools away properly forever and concentrate on my singing."
