Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Scotia Road in Burslem shortly after 15:00 GMT on Tuesday.

The fire service said nobody was inside the building and everybody was accounted for.

The public had been urged to avoid the area, with people living nearby advised to keep windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke.

Crews from Burslem, Cheadle, Hanley, Leek, Longton, Newcastle and Sandyford were at the scene.
