Specialists have removed a car that crashed into a 600-year-old hotel and pub, leaving parts of the building structurally unsafe.

The entrance of the Langport Arms in Cheapside, Somerset, was badly damaged in the crash on the A378 Bow Street on 1 June.

A road closure was put in place earlier from 06:00 BST while a crane lifted the car away.

The road reopened at 08:00.

The front entrance had been blocked by the car and debris, but the hotel was able to remain open.

A prop was used to support the porch roof.

Police, paramedics and firefighters attended the crash.

The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics, but did not suffer any serious injuries, a spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire Service (DSFS) said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the crash, police said.
