A man has died after falling from an e-scooter on a main road in Nottingham.

Police were called to reports a person had been injured in Carlton Road shortly after 20:00 BST on Thursday.

A man in his 40s was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment, but died on Friday from his injuries.

Officers are continuing to investigate what caused the man to fall from the e-scooter and have asked witnesses to come forward.

The force closed the road at the junction with Seymour Street, near Lidl.

It was reopened shortly before 06:00 on Friday, officers said.

Det Con Liah Lane, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said the force did not believe the incident involved another vehicle.

“This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this extremely difficult time," she said.

“We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

"If you saw what happened and have yet to get in contact with us, please do not assume that others have already told us what you saw.

“We are working to build up a complete picture of what happened."
