- Published
A man who was stabbed in the arm and the chest in a park had to undergo life-saving surgery.
The victim, in his 30s, was attacked following a dispute in Victoria Park in Smethwick, West Midlands, in August last year. His attacker, Obeidulla Waffa, fled the scene but was spotted in Cape Hill in March where he was found to have a knife hidden in his waistband.
He was convicted of attempted murder at Wolverhampton Crown Court after denying the charge. He was also found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
Waffa, 22, of Cheshire Road in Smethwick, will be sentenced at the same court on 3 October.
