A body has been found in the search for a Glasgow busker who has been missing since August.

Lewis Cuthbert, 25, was last seen at about 16:00 on Monday 4 August in the Lesmahagow Road area of Strathaven. His disappearance sparked a massive search operation by police.

A body was recovered from the River Clyde, near the Pacific Quay area of Glasgow, at about 11:00 on Tuesday 4 November.

Police said formal identification was still to take place but the family of Mr Cuthbert had been told of the discovery.

The force added that inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Officers spoke to more than 400 people and stopped over 300 cars as part of efforts to trace Mr Cuthbert.

Police also trawled CCTV footage and conducted door-to-door inquiries as part of their searches.

Mr Cuthbert was known to busk in both Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres.
