A man has admitted killing a man in an unprovoked attack outside a pub in Kent.

Marshall Mitchell, 35, punched a man who fell to the floor and hit his head on the ground in Harbour Street, Ramsgate, on 28 March.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital but died on 18 April. A post-mortem examination concluded a traumatic brain injury to be the cause of death.

Mitchell, of Crescent Road, Ramsgate, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday.

He will be sentenced on 5 November.

Det Sgt Dean Sycamore said: "This case illustrates the fatal consequences of mindless violence; just one punch can lead to the serious harm, or even the death, of another individual.

"I would like to offer my condolences to the victim's loved ones, and I hope this now brings some comfort to them."
