Irish Sea ferries have been cancelled because of gale force winds.

The Manxman's crossing to Heysham at 08:45 BST along with its 14:15 Douglas-bound return have both been called off.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company confirmed the sailings had been suspended as winds of up to 55mph (88km/h) were expected to hit the island.

A yellow weather warning was also in place from 09:30 until 13:30 on Tuesday because of concerns over high waves hitting Castletown promenade and the north of Douglas promenade.
