Elite athletes from around the world will join more than 2,000 people taking part in this year's Jersey Marathon weekend, organisers have said.

Competitors from France, Morocco and Kenya will join runners from the UK and Channel Islands on Sunday for the event, which includes a relay and mile-long course as well as the marathon.

Organisers said they expected "good competition for first place" in both the male and female categories.

The marathon - now in its 20th year - takes place on Sunday 5 October with a course starting and ending in St Helier and covering the west of the island.
