A woman has pleaded not guilty to murdering a man in Bristol last year.

Christina Howell, 37, from Easton, denied murdering Hubert “Isaac” Brown in the St Paul’s area during a hearing at the city's crown court on Friday.

Mr Brown, 61, also of Easton, died of a stab wound after he was attacked on Grosvenor Road on 29 September, 2023.

Avon and Somerset Police said the case is facing after Howell was detained in a high-security hospital pending psychiatric reports.

Det Insp Nadine Partridge of Avon and Somerset said: "This case has been unavoidably delayed because the defendant has been experiencing mental ill health and has been unable to instruct defence lawyers in line with their right to a fair trial."

Det Insp Partridge said the delay has "understandably" taken a toll on Mr Brown's family.

Ms Howell was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 20 December, and a planned trial in February 2025.
