Officers were called to Victoria Avenue following reports of a crossbow being fired at a house

A man accused of attempted murder in connection with the alleged firing of a crossbow has been deemed unfit to stand trial.

Andrew Woollen was charged in relation to an incident at a house in Victoria Avenue, Hull, on 7 October.

The 50-year-old, of Perth St, was accused of drugs offences, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

But a hearing at Hull Crown Court earlier accepted he was not fit to enter a plea.

A trial of the facts - which takes the place of a criminal trial - is scheduled to start on Monday.

It will be a public hearing to determine whether Mr Woollen committed the offences he is accused of.

It cannot result in a conviction but if the court is not satisfied that he is guilty then he will be acquitted.
