Cabbages spill as trailer overturns at roundabout
- Published
A trailer has shed a load of hundreds of cabbages after it overturned on a roundabout.
Police were called to the scene of the incident at the Peppermint roundabout on the A17 on the outskirts of Holbeach at about 12:35 BST on Tuesday.
No-one was injured in the incident, Lincolnshire Police added.
The cabbage chaos comes just weeks after the same roundabout was closed for several hours after another tractor trailer carrying manure, external overturned.
Cabbage country
Shops and supermarkets across the country are supplied by cabbages grown in Lincolnshire, where the fertile soil is ideal for brassica crops.
In 2013, Holbeach hosted the world's first cabbage hurling championships.
The county also hosted a bowling competition played with cabbages as part of celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
