A "dangerous" man has been found guilty of threatening to kill his partner.

Claudio Stroud, of Tennyson Street, Swindon, was also convicted of two counts of threatening with an offensive weapon, controlling and coercive behaviour, two counts of actual bodily harm and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

The 23-year-old was found guilty following a trial at Swindon Crown Court. He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 15 November.

Wiltshire Police launched an investigation after officers were called to an address in Swindon on 22 March 2023, when a woman said she had been repeatedly assaulted by her partner.

'A dangerous offender'

When Stroud was arrested on the following day he assaulted two officers, police said.

Trainee complex crime investigator Catherine Baird called Stroud a "dangerous offender".

“I would like to pay tribute to the victim for the incredible bravery that she has shown throughout this case since coming forward, as well as the witnesses who were integral to securing this conviction," she said.

“Their support for this prosecution means that they and other women are safeguarded from Stroud.”
