A Christmas tree festival will return to Hull Minster this December.

The Lord Mayor’s annual event will see dozens of decorated trees fill up the 700-year-old church.

Businesses, organisations and individuals can get involved by providing a tree, which can be decorated during the set-up day on Monday 2 December.

Anyone is welcome to attend the free event which will run from 3 December to 21 December. The minster's general opening hours are from 10:00 until 16:00 GMT, Tuesday to Saturday.

A donation of £10 per tree will go to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund, which is this year supporting Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University and Cruse Bereavement Support.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Collinson, said: “This is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit.

“We want to spread communal goodwill and festive joy."
